Happy Home-made Mother's Day

Posted on: 23/03/2020

We have been in self-imposed isolation as a precautionary measure for Ava since 12th March. We have done twice daily video calls with school and Ava has had over 2 hours of 1:1 lessons every day, which have worked brilliantly. Angelina is home from boarding school and Richard is working from home. So far so good. Today Ava received an official letter from the NHS stating "you are at risk of severe illness if you catch Coronavirus... and must avoid all face-to-face contact for at least 12 weeks". So we are one step ahead and I think nothing will ever be as challenging as the period we spent in isolation during gene therapy in Milan. My biggest concern is how to keep Ava moving without her daily therapy. We have her standing frame and theratrainer and hoping to have some video calls with her physiotherapist and occupational therapist for guidance. I'm hoping that we will continue to receive our weekly food delivery from Ocado. People seem to be stockpiling food and toilet rolls, a kind of panic which is entirely counter-productive and will create shortages where there are none. Angelina has at least seen the funny side of things with this brilliant Mother's Day gift.
