Day +226

Posted on: 10/11/2014

Ava had a more varied week last week, including the excitement of going to soft play centre 'Gambado' in place of one of her routine OT appointments at Chelsea & Westminster hospital. The NHS facilities are poor in comparison to those at our private OT, however this week the therapist made a real effort to do something different and Gambado was a big hit. It was super quiet as we were there during school hours and Ava pretty much had the whole place to herself! On Saturday Ava began her swimming lessons again, where she worked really hard, despite being rather cold. She hit it off with her new teacher - by coincidence Alessandro from Milan- immediately and impressed him with her determination to succeed. Afterwards we went back to Gambado again, as Angelina was quite jealous of Ava's session last week. We also took my lovely nieces Milly and Grace and, although this time it was horrendously busy, all of the girls enjoyed it. This weekend we had family in town to celebrate Ava's Grandma's 70th birthday, which included Ava and Angelina organising an afternoon tea party for her on Friday and a glamorous early dinner at the Ritz on Saturday night. Sheila is a wonderful Grandma and a remarkable lady, who selflessly gave up four months of her life earlier this year to help us through Ava's treatment in Milan. She travelled relentlessly between London and Milan during that time, either giving me a break at the hospital or looking after Angelina at home whilst Richard was in Italy with Ava and myself. Her help and support were invaluable and we simply couldn't have it done without her. If I have half of her energy at that age, I will be delighted. Happy Birthday Sheila!!
