Day +234

Posted on: 17/11/2014

Last week was another good week for Ava, with lots of positive therapy sessions and some good new exercises, this week focussing on strengthening the muscles in her feet. We also had an extremely busy weekend, which included swimming, a play date, a visit to my Goddaughter and a birthday party. The fact that Ava copes well with such a hectic schedule is very reassuring. It is also great for Angelina to know that we are not missing out on anything on account of Ava being too fragile to attend. Angelina was also excited to receive an invitation to join a special play group which is exclusively for children who have a sibling with a serious illness. So she is now looking forward to a trip on the 'Afternoon Tea Bus' and to Madame Tussaud's, as well as meeting other young people who understand how challenging it can be having a brother or sister who isn't well. It's easy to forget how these things can affect siblings and make them feel second best. We are lucky that initiatives like this exist and that our good friends never forget to make a fuss of Angelina as well as Ava. We are keen to pay such goodwill forward and tonight the girls excitedly put their Christmas gifts together for the annual Samaritans Purse 'shoe box' appeal. Whilst life has thrown us our fair share of difficulties, we are ever mindful of the fact that we still have a great deal to be thankful for.
