We are home after a fleeting trip to Milan. On Friday morning we met with Dr Biffi, who said that she was very pleased with Ava's progress. We have yet to receive results from the blood test to determine the level of engraftment of new cells, however we did hear that Ava's Gross Motor Function was stable and her abdominal scan was clear. Her white blood count is strong and there were no other issues. The major testing will happen at 12 month post-transplant, which will be at the end of March next year. In the meantime, things are looking good and we are advised to continue with our intensive regime of daily therapy, which will be reviewed next time. Despite being in Milan very briefly, the girls still managed to see Santa and have a milkshake date with Giulia at the hotel Bulgari, whom they both adore. We also made a flying visit to the delightful ladies at the laundry, who were sadly shutting down their shop. We will never forget their friendship and kindness during our extended stay here and hope they will always stay in touch. We are lucky to have made so many wonderful friends in Italy and rather sad to have had such a swift visit this time.
