A mixed day in Milan today and not just the weather. Ava had her Gross Motor Function assessment this afternoon and unfortunately struggled (or refused) to do a lot of the exercises. We don't have the scoring yet, but I'm not feeling confident. On a better note, we met with Dr Biffi who said that, outstanding test results aside, she was very pleased with Ava's general condition. It is certainly comforting as, although I rate all of the doctors opinions here, I value her opinion highest because she has such an incredible wealth of experience with MLD. Fingers crossed for all of the results. On another positive note, outside the hospital Ava and I bumped into Sonia, the lovely lady from the laundry which recently closed due to her ill health. When she heard that we were in town and headed straight to our hotel with an armful of amazing gifts for both Ava and Angelina. I never fail to be blown away by her kindness and thoughtfulness. We were so happy to see her, as Ava has chatted about her absence all week! This evening we met up with 3 more awesome ladies; Dr Laura and nurses Gigliola and Federica. They have made every step of our difficult journey here with Ava much easier and we hope they too will be our friends for life.
