A great day at the hospital today, with 1300 neutrophils and 73,000 platelets! So despite a very active weekend with Luisa, Ava has not overdone things and managed to hold her levels. After 6 hours of infusions, we headed to 'Duls' cafe for our daily smoothie. Ava's taste buds have changed quite a bit through chemo and now she is no longer keen on anything sweet. Which is fantastic, because neutrophils attack sugars before infection, so at least we are giving them the best chance. Her preference is now for things like carrot and ginger juice rather than anything like orange, peach or pineapple which she loved a couple of months ago. She is also very curious to try things that she didn't previously like, including fresh tomatoes (tried tonight and still not keen) and curry (not yet). Tonight we were thrilled to hear that Angelina has won 'Best in Class' with her Francis Holland Chelsea Flower Show entry! The theme this year was 'Under the Sea' and Ava was glad that getting her best string of pearls covered in soil has been worth it :)
