Day +75

Posted on: 12/06/2014

Another day spent mainly indoors due to the very high temperature outside. We fed the ducks early and were back at the hotel by 11am, by which time it was already too hot. We ventured out again at 6pm and visited the zoo before going for a treat dinner at the pizzeria under the hospital. Ava has been practicing her Italian today and took great delight at saying the word 'puzza' in the restaurant. This made her laugh, as it actually means 'bad smell'! Ava picked this word up from the nurses, as every time she has something through her catheter, she holds her nose and says she gets a horrid smell. We can't smell anything, but apparently lots of patients have reported the same sensation. Her other favourite Italian words are 'basta', which means 'enough' and 'cetriolo', which is 'cucumber'. I hope we both remember the language we have learnt when we get home. We will be returning to Milan for post-transplant checks for the next seven years, so it will certainly come in useful!
