Day +89

Posted on: 25/06/2014

Last nights thunder storm and torrential rain lasted all through the night until around lunchtime today. So we were house-bound this morning and practised telling the time and did some more packing. When we emerged we discovered that the hotel garden was completely water-logged and the nearby car park flooded. It seemed in total contrast to the very hot weather we have been having, yet by mid-afternoon the glorious sunshine had returned and the continued stormy forecast was proved wrong again. We are starting to say our goodbyes to the many friends we have made in Milan and this afternoon we popped up to the entrance of the isolation unit to see awesome nurse Federica one last time. We are really going to miss her incredibly big heart and wonderful sense of humour. It was very strange going into the changing room and not having to disinfect everything, as is the protocol for entering. Something I will never forget and hope never to repeat again. It was also strange missing FHS Sports Day, but we were thrilled to hear that Angelina came second in discus and first with her team in the relay race. Ava is already in training for next year and is determined to win something too!
